Aviation Security: A broad understanding with a focus towards Africa

Aviation Security as defined by ICAO is safeguarding civil aviation against acts of unlawful interference. This objective is achieved by a combination of measures and human and material resources.

Aviation Security from a broader perspective can be referred to as the necessary efforts put in place to protect passengers, staff and aircraft from all manner of malicious acts. It is imperative to understand that unlike other forms of security arrangements, Aviation Security, commonly referred within industry circles as AVSEC is highly dynamic and hence requires vibrant strategies to match the challenges.
